What is Ultimate Frisbee?
Ultimate frisbee or “Ultimate” is a fast-paced, athletic team sport that combines
elements of American football, football, netball and basketball but played with
a Frisbee. It is a non-contact sport that is typically played on a rectangular field
with end zones at each end, similar to an American football field.
The objective of Ultimate Frisbee is for teams to score points by passing the disc
to teammates and successfully completing a pass into the opposing team’s end
zone, similar to scoring a touchdown in American football. Players cannot run
with the disc; they must establish a pivot foot and pass it to a teammate within
ten seconds.
Ultimate Frisbee is played with two teams, typically consisting of seven players
each. Teams can be male, female or mixed. The game is self-officiated, meaning
players are responsible for making their own calls and resolving disputes in a
spirit of fairness and sportsmanship.
